Happy Birthday!

Well, we now officially have a two-year old. Seems so crazy to think that he's been with us for that long. Time has really flown by!

We've talked about him having a birthday for the past week or so. He keeps saying "happy" and wants us to sing Happy Birthday to him. He knows he is now two years old, but won't always say it when asked. We are working on that. And, he has assumed that any box or package that has come to the house is for him. If UPS comes or we get the mail and there's a package in it, he points to himself and then the box and says "happy". Too funny!


He opened a few presents today and was quite happy to do so. He gets excited when we ask him if he wants a surprise. Here he is enjoying a few surprises from today:

His cousins Jeffrey and Charlie sent him a special Thomas birthday train which he was just thrilled about:

Tonight after dinner we had a small cake for his birthday. When we lit the candle and started to sing, his eyes lit up and he knew exactly what was going on. But, when we put a piece of cake on his tray and gave him his fork, he wanted nothing to do with it. Nothing! He wouldn't even try one bite. Instead he just wanted a cookie (or "ki ki" as he calls it) and was quite pleased with that. He also got to play with one of his favorite things, a flashlight. He LOVES to shine that thing all over and then run and play in our room in the dark with it before his bath. Silly boy!

Harrison has been talking a TON more lately. Every day he seems to come up with a new word or two. For the past few days he's been talking about "Mack", one of the characters from the movie "Cars" (he's a semi-truck). We have the truck and he is constantly saying "Mack" and walking around looking for Mack if he's not right there.

As of the end of last week, Mark and I are officially "Mommy" and "Daddy" instead of "Mama" and "Dada". For some reason he just decided that is who we are now, and he loves to run around and call us by name.

It has been pretty cold here lately so we haven't gotten to spend a lot of time outside. That means we've had to be creative with our time inside. We've played a lot of Harrison's version of hide-and-seek. This means he tells you where to hide, you hide there, and he laughs and comes to find you. Or, he tells you to hide and he hides too, and then just waits for you to find him. His version of hiding is to make sure you can't see his face...so sometimes he is just hanging out around the corner, and other times he's actually hiding, like in a closet. It is a lot of fun to play with him because he laughs SO hard while we play this!
